Crossword Challenge: Application for an Open Social Network

Our idea is to develop a crossword puzzle zone with crossword categories like movies, science, sports, music etc., and allow users to select a category and play a crossword or create a crossword. For users who create a crossword, the crossword can be created in their name of choice with the category pre-selected.

The time taken by each user to complete a particular crossword is stored. If a user finishes a crossword in the fastest time, the user will recieve bonus points and will be allowed to challenge his friends.

How can we make our application more successful and widely used ?

Get Involved - Local Community Site

I've been thinking about creating a site that has the following features:

- a problems list for the local community, i.e., graffiti, old homes, etc.,

- a list of solutions - how to solve the problems the local communities face

- a list of volunteers - a place where people can sign up and help with the solutions, i.e., paint old houses,

In a nutshell, it's a web 2.0 approach to local government, bypassing the antiquated approach to solving local problems via a small council, and giving the power back to the people.
